Genetics, life decoded?
The first part of this exhibition takes us right to the heart of the cell in order to understand the building-blocks of genetics better. Store - transmit – use the raw data of life: the amazing things that go on inside a cell! Proteins, DNA, chromosomes: this lilliputian world toils so that each and every one of us is totally unique, even though we share the same bases!
The second part of the exhibition looks at the big challenges faced today by scientists who hold the keys to this science in a state of constant flux and change. Identify, clone, correct, modify: where are we headed? Genetic engineering: is this engineering a good or bad thing?
Some key questions that everyone is asking: GM food on our plate? Convicted criminals exonerated by their DNA? Cloning as an answer to sterility problems? And many more besides.
